Year of the Rat
Happy Chinese New Year! The Year 2008 (Brown Rat) is the 4705th Chinese year. According to some sources, a Rat Year is a time of hard work, activity, and renewal, so it is a good year to begin a new job, get married, launch a product or make a fresh start.
We celebrated the new year by eating at the Dragon Lady Restaurant here in Charlottesville and were pleasantly surprised when Violet (20 months) successfully ate her dinner with chop sticks. She actually held them properly and was able to take about 10 bites! We were amazed. We miss NYC, and especially Chinatown, at this time of year where the celebrations are much more obvious.
